We the undersigned employees, contributors and service providers past and present wish to register our support for the BBC.

 

We believe that the current attacks and bullying of the corporation represent a real danger to its long term survival as the world's best and most far reaching public service broadcaster.

 

Imagine a world without the BBC, a world with only state controlled or state-scared media, fraught with political interference, lack of regulation and impartiality.

 

Truth is hard to come by these days. We are flooded with lies and misinformation, and at its core the BBC must retain its voice to speak truth to power.

 

We believe its independence must be protected from all forms of political influence, however indirect.

 

We acknowledge its flaws and are not seeking to exonerate these or excuse any of its mistakes. We know things have to change.

 

The BBC serves democracy across the world, it serves the people, and we must act to defend it.
